Weleda wins beauty award – Best Sustainable Brand

Weleda, one of my own personal favourite eco brands, is delighted to announce a prestigious new Beauty Shortlist Award for Best Fair Trade/Sustainable Brand. Health and beauty journalist Fiona Klonarides founded The Beauty Shortlist in 2009 to highlight the best of beauty with an emphasis on natural, organic and eco-luxury skincare.  

After months of trying and testing, researching and rating products – a vast array of over 220 brands (a significant increase on last year’s 142 brands) – The Beauty Shortlist team finally announced the winners on 7 March 2014. Texture, scent, packaging, efficacy, labels and formulas were all factors that won or lost products valuable points. The final verdict, from The Beauty Shortlist’s founder Fiona Klonarides, was that Weleda was a worthy winner:

“Weleda’s longstanding commitment to sustainability, quality and transparency is quite remarkable, dating back decades and decades. So Best Fair Trade/Sustainable is a fitting accolade for an ethical, global beauty brand that lives and breathes sustainable production and biodynamic horticulture.”

In addition to this exciting win, Weleda was also runner up in a second award category for Best Natural/Organic Skincare Brand.

There is still plenty of hard work to do in this area, and the issue of sustainability remains a primary focus for us.
