Foraging for wild food is fun and its free! But you do need to follow some simple rules to identify and pick things safely. It is often a good idea to start by going out with an experienced forager.

Food Safari offers wild food foraging courses in Suffolk, Cambridge, London and Derbyshire. You can choose from a full day courses combining a guided foray with a hands-on cookery workshop or just a short introduction to foraging.

In Derbyshire we are working with Seasoned cookery school to offer a guided foray around the grounds of the Catton Hall Estate, near Lichfield on Tuesday 9 April. You will learn identification tips and how to forage safely and sustainably. We will find the first foods of spring – lime and beech leaves, rosebay willowherb, sorrel, hedge garlic and hawthorn blossom. We’ll then learn how to cook these delicious ingredients and prepare a foragers’ feast.
