Mindfulness Journeys – luxury relaxation and meditation retreats in Morocco, Italy and Greece

Mindfulness Journeys is a new retreat company offering luxury group holidays focusing on deep relaxation, training in mindfulness and yogic exercises in a variety of exotic locations including Greece, Italy and Morocco. Week long retreats are priced from €1160   (£908) per person.

The company has been established by Brian Hilliard, a powerful and highly experienced meditation teacher, together with his partner Shannon van Staden who has a strong background in luxury hospitality and is herself an experienced meditator.

Based in a choice of destinations each retreat offers the perfect escape from a busy life and the chance to nourish and rejuvenate mind, body and soul. Guests will be taught Mindfulness tools to take back to everyday life to help with challenges such as relationship issues, stress and anxiety.There is five hours of practice a day, one to one meditation interviews, a lesson on deep meditation techniques and other sessions including Lujong yogic exercises, a vigorous Tibetan Yoga.

About Brian Hilliard

Brian is a renowned teacher of mindfulness and awareness meditation with over 35 years experience since he first started to practice under the guidance of many great Tibetan Masters including Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche. After a corporate ‘burn out’ Brian completed a three year retreat before moving on to study the scholastic/ yogic tradition of Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche. He has been running retreats for the last ten years in Italy and has developed many of his own mindfulness techniques including contemplative and meditative curricula. As an appointed Shastri, a senior teacher in the Shambhala tradition, he travels widely as a guest speaker and is known for his down to earth, caring and witty approach.


The combined talents of Brian and retreat host Shannon bring together the powerful practice of mindfulness whilst not compromising on style, culture and great food and wine in incredible locations in this new venture.


Marrekesh Desert – Coming into Your Senses – five night retreats


With a choice of dates for five night breaks, the retreat is based at La Pause, 30km from Marrakesh in the arid beauty of the Agafay Hills. The location offers a tranquil setting with stylish accommodation in private mud lodges each with a terrace to enjoy endless vistas. Luxury Egyptian cotton sheets, comfortable beds, hot running water, toiletries and bathrobes are all supplied with the property lit at night by lanterns and candles. During the day, sessions will take place in the communal Berber tents after which guests can relax by the pool surrounded by hammocks and daybeds in the shade of the 100 year old olive trees. Retreats are priced from €1400 per person (based on two sharing) and include the full programme of Mindfulness, five nights accommodation and full board (20th March, 22nd May and 10th October)


Mystical Souks, Mountains and Mindfulness – week retreat 8-15th April 2015 from €1190 (£930) per person

The retreat is located in the Berber village of Tagadert, 24km south of Marrakesh with a backdrop of the snow-capped Atlas Mountains at the Tigmi residence. The property has beautiful gardens with citrus, banana palms and olive trees and two swimming pools (one heated), with many secret terraces and quiet corners for guests to relax, read and recharge. The bedrooms are authentic traditional Berber style with generous comfortable beds, cool sheets, hand-woven covers and cushions and  large bathrooms.
