Radiant Yoga Bring the Hot Yoga Experience to Marbella, Spain
Approximately 40 yoga devotees were the first to experience the benefits of one of the world’s fastest growing exercise trends – hot yoga, at the Open Day of Radiant Yoga Marbella, on Saturday 19th April.
Radiant Yoga Marbellais an exciting new yoga studio in the heart of Marbella, Spain with stunning views to the auspicious La Concha mountain. The light and spacious purpose-built studio – now open for business – is unique in the area. Owned and managed by well-known multi-lingual yoga teachers and health professionals, Radiant Yoga Marbella offers a complete programme of yoga classes six days a week.
Significantly, it is the first yoga facility in the area to offer Hot Yoga, widely considered to be one of the most effective yoga disciplines in terms of boosting health and fitness levels. The specially conditioned studio features inviting bamboo flooring, state-of-the-art infrared panels that direct heat to the body rather than the room. Reaching a temperature of approximately 38 degrees, and 50 per cent humidity, the pervading heat facilitates the yoga postures. The full-length windows lead onto a spacious open solarium terrace where students can practise yoga under the Andalusian sun while appreciating the views of Marbella’s energizing mountain.
Proving immensely popular, the hot yoga classes with Margaret Holland at Radiant Yoga Marbella are for 60, 75 or 90 minutes duration and comprise approximately 50 static, standing and seated yoga postures. “The series is intended to tone, stretch and strengthen the whole body, still the mind and create an immense feeling of wellbeing,” says Margaret. The studio also offers a Hot Vinyasa Flow class with Lori, featuring more varied sequences and themes such as heart chakra opening. The classes are suitable for students of all levels, while those new to hot yoga are recommended to start with the static style.
“Remember to come to the class well hydrated, and bring water to sip throughout the class. You will be provided with a hand-towel, and are recommended to bring a large towel to place on the yoga mat,” Margaret advises, adding, “Hot yoga is challenging, but extremely invigorating. As well as the physical benefits, it will make you feel uplifted, and you will grow in spirit and self-esteem”.
Between them, the founders of Radiant Yoga Marbella, Lori Sjollema, Ariane Pieper and Marjan Looije have over five decades of yoga and bodywork experience. Their studio offers a full programme of weekday and weekend classes, with resident and visiting multilingual teachers specialized in different yoga disciplines including Vinyasa flow, Hatha, Therapeutical & Anusara Yoga as well as children’s and pregnancy yoga. Retreats and yoga days with respected international wellness and yoga professionals, as special guests, will add variety to this vibrant new centre in beautiful Marbella.
