Village Ways Introduces Women-Only Holiday

NEW WOMEN-ONLY HOLIDAY DISCOVERING

VILLAGE WAYS IN THE RURAL HIMALAYAN FOOTHILLS

For women who prefer to travel with other women, award-winning sustainable tourism specialist Village Ways introduces an all-female trip, departing 30 March 2015, to discover the fascinating life of villagers in the gentle Binsar Valley of the Himalayan foothills.

Perfect for both first time visitors to India or those returning, the group of up to six guests will be looked after from the moment they arrive: with onward travel arrangements in place and ladies escorted by a female private guide throughout the holiday. The thrill of the holiday will be encountering the traditional ways of life in the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary, while staying within charming mountain village guesthouses that are managed and operated by the communities, and getting to know the villagers. As well as walking between villages in the company of the local English-speaking guide, guests have the opportunity to learn about the women’s work and their customs – and, if they wish, help to harvest the fruit, tend the buffalo or lend a hand in the fields.

<image002.jpg>When the Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary was annexed by India’s Forestry Commission in 1990, it left five villages deprived of its source of livelihood – timber – and left the villagers with little choice but to migrate to the cities in search of work. However, Village Ways has since managed to reverse the migration trend: salvation has been given to the villages through halting depopulation and providing the locals with a livelihood in rural tourism.

The 11-night Discover Binsar – Ladies Group Holiday will begin with a two night stay in Delhi with time to explore the vibrant city, before heading into the Binsar Sanctuary, first to stay at Khali Estate – a characterful old residence where bedrooms are in stone ’round houses’ amidst the surrounding pine forest. Accompanied by the guide and with luggage carried by porters, the group will walk along gently winding forest paths, towards an unforgettably warm welcome from the villagers.

Staying for five nights in three guesthouses that were all specially built by the locals for Village Ways, walkers can expect the most wonderful hospitality, with clean and simple twin bedded rooms, daily home-made breakfasts, delicious picnic lunches and hearty vegetarian dinners.

Price: from £708pp including rail journeys to the hills (one of them overnight), 2 nights’ room-only accommodation in Delhi, 6 nights’ full board in the village guesthouses and 2 nights’ full board at Khali Estate. As the guesthouses provide simple twin bedroom accommodation, this holiday is offered to single travellers on a shared-room basis. Visitors are required to book their own international flights and Village Ways recommends UK travellers book an overnight flight on 29th March, arriving Delhi on the morning of 30th March.
